Cross section of University Management, Directors of DCAL & TGI team during the interactive session |
This was made known during an interactive session with the University Management on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the team, Mr. Praise Folaji noted that TGI would reduce the cost of training students abroad through the arrangement. “Parents who are willing to send their wards abroad for further studies could reduce the cost by enrolling them into our programme,” he reiterated. Mr. Folaji said TGI would provide the platform for students to spend only 100 levels in Nigerian Universities, stressing that TGI has collaborations with some universities in Nigeria.
Speaking further, he stated that the programme is not certificated but only the students’ transcript is required for continuation of their studies abroad.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, expressed optimism that the proposal would see the light of day and commended TGI for presenting such an attractive proposal to the University. Prof. Akanji said the University is a specialized institution with core focus in science, agriculture and technology with different curriculum from the conventional University.
He thanked them for coming and promised to look into the proposal. TGI has similar collaborations with Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife while University of Maiduguri is in the process of joining the system.
